Generate electricity from the sun

Would you like to get paid for generating your own free electricity for the next 25 years?

A typical domestic solar photovoltaic (PV) array will:

  • generate free electricity
  • provide a tax free income of around £850 a year
  • save up to £250 on electricity bills a year
  • reduce your carbon dioxide emissions.
By installing a 2.2kW solar PV array, you will generate approximately 1,900 units of free electricity a year – that's enough free electricity to provide 40% of an average household's electricity needs.*

In addition to the savings you will make on your electricity bills; you can also get paid for the electricity you generate!

The government's Feed in Tariff guarantees a minimum payment for the electricity you generate as well as an additional payment for the electricity you don't use and export to the grid. You will also start making savings on your electricity bills straight way.

A typical 2.2kwp household system could earn you:

  • £820 through the Feed in Tariff for the electricity you generate
  • £30 through the Feed in Tariff for the electricity you export
  • £250 saving on your energy bill, by using your generated electricity.
That's a total income of £1100 every year.*

Feed in Tariff is guaranteed, backed by the government for 25 years and is tax free to householders. Feed in Tariffs are linked to the retail price index and will rise with inflation. The price of electricity will rise over the coming decades – and with these rises; the value of the green electricity generated will also rise.

Join today and receive the optimum tariff rate for the full 25 years. Leave it until April 2012 and the tariff rate will have reduced by 7%, and will reduce further until the planned closure of the scheme in 2020.

how much will it cost?
Installation of solar PV panels is simple, straightforward and usually completed in a day.

A 2.2 kWp solar array will typically cost you around £9,000 and can pay for itself within 9 years - a better return on your investment than a new car! In years 10 to 25 you will earn an income of around £16,500.

what happens on a cloudy day?
PV panels don't need direct sunlight to work; you will still generate electricity on a cloudy day.
maintenance
Your PV panels will need very little maintenance. You will need to make sure trees do not over shadow the solar panel and that the panels are kept relatively clean. In most cases the rain will be sufficient to keep your panels free from dirt and dust.

Affordable Energy can arrange for an approved and accredited installer to visit your home for a free, no obligation survey, to assess whether your property is suitable for Solar PV.
